HAH.

I remember when I said I would post every single day on this...

Maybe one day I will come back to this. Maybe...

Tennis Disappointment

Today was a very disappointing day for the world of tennis, because tonight (Baghdatis vs. Hewitt) was going to be one of the BIGGEST matches of the Australian Open for 2010, I reckon - and after Baghdatis lost the first set 6-0, he forfeited only a few games into the second set... For those of you that don't know Baghdatis is one of my favourite tennis players, and he would have WOOPED Hewitt if he hadn't had that injury tonight... So I wish him the best of luck for the rest of the year!

The only other thing I'd like to mention today is actually quite hilarious. For those of you who don't know (and if you don't know about this, you really need to read the news more...), late night talk show host Conan O'Brien has been kicked from his show by NBC (this is in America by the way) - and the drama surrounding the whole issue is ENORMOUS. He's received huge support on Twitter (and the Internet, in general), and has used his last few shows to bad-mouth NBC BIG-TIME, which has made them HILARIOUS. He signed off on his show on Friday, but here's a HILARIOUS interview he had with Robin Williams this week, which is definitely worth watching :)

Help Haiti, Life and News

(download)

hey all =)

firstly, i'd like to explain the attached file. it's a brand spankin' new song from linkin park, and it's AMAZING and very touching. but apart from that, let me explain why i attached it...

in 2003, linkin park created a non-profit organisation called 'music for relief', which is a group of artists dedicated to providing aid to victims of natural disasters. they raise money through albums, concerts and promotions, and 100% of proceeds go to the people that need it.

right now, obviously, the emergency is haiti - and music for relief have played an integral role in the haiti relief efforts. they have released an ENTIRE ALBUM of UNRELEASED, exclusive songs called 'download to donate for haiti'. you can download the album from http://www.musicforrelief.org/, and then donate if you're good-willed enough. it features music from HUGE artists like linkin park and the all-american rejects that you will not hear ANYWHERE ELSE. i donated $20, and that was one of the most worthwhile things i have ever done in my life so please, give what you can.

now to quickly say what's going on around me, and then i'll post a couple of interesting links / news articles from today (you can also find these on my twitter at http://twitter.com/bthaxor). yesterday i had a meeting at my work experience workplace (http://webqem.com), and it was seriously AMAZING. i can't wait til work experience now, because i'll be doing really interesting things, and it will actually be PRACTICAL!

today's tennis wasn't all that interesting, and it was my brother's last day of tennis camp. firefox 3.6 was released today (and a couple of people, myself included, have been having issues updating - just backup your firefox.exe before, copy it back over if the update is corrupt and re-update) and it's a lot faster as well as sporting support for new css and html5 elements, in-built support for firefox personas (which i really don't like but anyway...), and the ability to check for plugin updates along with addon updates.

i just want to mention that right now i'm too lazy, but from now i'll start posting with proper punctuation like at http://bthaxor.com :P

now here are just a few of my daily news articles for today - i would normally leave these for my twitter but some of the articles from today really are quite interesting, and i'd like to share them with you (again) :)

#nowplaying: "david guetta - memories". now off to watch the tennis, goodnight everyone!

Bored To Death.

although these holidays started off as pretty damn fun (going out with friends almost every day), they've reverted to the usual sitting-around-doing-nothing holidays. in fact i'm so lazy, i don't even feel like posting right now...

worked at waitara tennis for just an hour over the past two days, might go back again next week. i have a work experience meeting tomorrow, to fill in all the documentation. apparently tomorrow there's some outing which i had NO IDEA about because YET AGAIN, i have NO PHONE. that's quite seriously one of the things i hate MOST in this world... it makes me feel like i'm cut from civilisation :(

so these days i've mainly been watching the tennis - dokic getting THRASHED, and yesterday when molik COULD HAVE and SHOULD HAVE won... can't wait til we get into the quarterfinals and onwards. then it really becomes interesting :) henin and dementieva tonight should be AWESOME.

i went bballing with yilang today, was much better than last time's FAIL, and was SERIOUSLY tired after D: i really need to exercise... i want a treadmill.

this year, more than anything, i want a macbook pro, because i think my laptop's on its last legs. i shall try very hard to find a job soon...

finally, now apptrackr is up as a replacement for appulous! it's infinitely faster, no crashes, and has a much better interface, with many features coming.

i should go plan out my trip for tomorrow, but i'll try post again when i come back tomorrow... wish me luck!

Tutorial: How to Enable 'God Mode' in Windows 7!

Godmode

this tutorial has been posted all over the web a few times before, but i myself didn't hear about it until today, so chances are you wouldn't have heard of it either!

so what is "god mode"? it's not actually a special mode of windows as you might be thinking, but as you can see in the screenshot, it's still damn useful. it's pretty much just a folder containing ALL settings from the control panel AS WELL AS administrative tools, conveniently listed so you can change ANY setting in windows from the one window. and you can search the folder too, for easy access!

setting this up couldn't be any simpler. just create a new folder anywhere you like and name it "ControlPanel.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}" without the quotes (you can substitute ControlPanel with any name of your choice), and hit enter. the folder's icon will change, and you'll have your own master control panel in an easily accessible place!

that's all from me today - it's been quite an uneventful day otherwise. i think i might go to fitness first tomorrow and join (i feel like running!) for the treadmills :)

PVZ Cheats

i've been playing pvz all day to relieve my boredom, so i thought it would only be appropriate to dedicate this post to cheats =) note that some require your tree of wisdom to be a certain hieght...

Type these cheat codes at any time while playing.

NOW, OFF TO THE TENNIS!

Cleaning (Tennis) Balls!

and you thought that epic history lesson where we learned about wealthy women holding balls to raise money was classic... well now there's a service to clean them! introducing the axe ball cleaner!

otherwise it'll be a shorter one today... i managed to cement my work experience which is awesome (i'm going next thursday to get the paperwork sorted out), i'm organising a bhood outing for next week and a good friend from the se-nse forums is teaching me how to port advanced patches for sony ericsson a2 phones :)

speaking of phones, i think i'll call up sydney cellular repairs soon to ask what's happened to mine...

tonight is the women's final of the sydney medibank international - serena williams vs. elena demetrieva, it looks to be an awesome match! the match has already actually started live (1 game all), but the television broadcast starts at 9:30... and congratulations to marcos baghdatis who today beat mardy fish (was a classic match). pity they didn't show it on tv =\

can't wait til the australian open next week!

Typical Holidays

Google-china

these holidays don't seem to be any different...

what started off as holidays where i went out almost every day to have fun with friends once again turned to staying at home to take care of my brother, watching movies all day. my ass is literally STUCK TO THE SEAT these days...

and once again i've already started worrying about school - especially work experience. ok great, i found an employer - but now i have NO IDEA what to do with all the forms and documentation and i'm kinda panicking because on the yellow sheet it says the deadline for SOMETHING is the 5th of february...

stupid deigan that didn't explain this to us properly and gave us those stupid videos instead ==' i'll email him tonight, not that he'd check his det email during the holidays anyway... and noone else seems to know what to do either =\

in other news today (and in fact, that's what the image at the top's about), google has announced it will heavily consider its chinese version of the site (originally set up to promote freedom of information in an otherwise filtered nation), after a big internal security breach.

by the way i edited that image in paint because i was too lazy to wait three minutes for photoshop to boot up, and that made was probably the first time i'd used paint in windows 7 for editing images... ever!

on the adobe note: there was a HUGE article today as to why flash will never come to the iphone (http://j.mp/6A4a02). i'm still planning to buy an iphone 4g this year and to be honest i don't give a rat's ass about flash. as a matter of fact, i wish flash would disappear. sure, it's a great idea and a great development platform, however it would be a powerful tool IF THE DEVELOPERS KNEW HOW TO USE IT PROPERLY. i'm SICK of entirely-flash sites that you can't copy text off, or flash ads that slow down your browser (noscript lets in a few here and there). it's ridiculous! there are so many ads on the internet these days (i haven't realised, thank allah adblock plus) i feel like there's more AD than CONTENT.

AND BEFORE YOU DISAPPEAR (if you're still reading this, anyway), please make sure to check out my new blog design at http://j.mp/8tE6Ao :) as a matter of fact, if you've read this whole rant, please drop me a comment to confirm you have. if i get even ONE comment down there, i'll be damned :D

'til next time.

Rock That Body

(download)

Why do I have that damn song stuck in my head? Gosh just like I thought I'd gotten over 'I Gotta Feeling' but then I went to karaoke with Bonnie, Mielz and Ben and yeah...

Today was quite eventful to say the least - first I finished off my new blog's design THIS MORNING (and let me remind you that it's being released tomorrow at 13:13 :) ), and then was fiddling around with a few optimisation options when I COMPLETELY SCREWED IT!

Of course after an hour or so of panicking I debugged all my code and found the source of the problem (a misplaced stylesheet declaration)... I also discovered the beauty of YSlow - my website's blazing fast now :)

Then I went to finish off 'Burn After Reading' (alright movie I guess - plenty of swearing though...), and watch some tennis. Tennis season is seriously my favourite time of the year... I love watching tennis more than any other sport on this planet :) Except I wish I didn't have to watch it alone all the time...

And JUST THEN, after WEEKS of searching, I finally found work experience! I first started looking into large tech companies (e.g. Adobe), but when I realised that wasn't going to happen I looked into web design companies in Sydney - and the first one I laid eyes on was 'webqem' (http://webqem.com). Their portfolio was EXTREMELY IMPRESSIVE, and after applying at about 10 different companies, I knew that if I could get work experience at webqem I'd be the happiest. And now I've received a reply saying they're interested, and we'll get everything organised over the next week :)

Appscene is at a crawl today, Appulous is getting shut down for Apptrackr (good decision I reckon, it's been pretty much inaccessible these days) and the SE-NSE forums are down because of a DDoS attack. My online world is a mess today =\

REMEMBER TOMORROW AT 13:13PM, be at http://bthaxor.com!
